Fitness & Wellbeing Activities
Get Active in 24!
There will be a lot of us well intentioned to improve our health and fitness this year and we would like to support our members wherever we can to achieve and activity goals they may have. So, what will it be?
Gym membership?
We have corporate deals at most gym facilities. Search www.hplsoffers.org to see if your gym is offering us anything. If you can't see it let us know and we will enquire.
New activity or sport?
We have active sports groups looking for new members. Look at our list from the top menu. Don't see something you want? Let us know. Maybe a new group could be formed. We are also organising some taster days this year for members to try some new things. Watch out for our news letters.
Sign up for a healthy cooking course?
There are many course available at local colleges and adult education facilities. Search your local area and sign up direct. You can claim a subsidy towards the cost.
Structured diet plan subscription?
For some these are the only way to ensure the motivation keeps going. Slimming World, Weight-Watchers and many others are available online and via local groups. Just serach your local area and sign up. You can claim a subsidy towards the cost.

Some of you may be considering building yourself up entering a sports event such as a 5K race, Obstacle, Inflatable course race or a cycling sportive. So many available now. Research what you might like and book direct. Claim some help towards the entry. How about the NHS Couch-2 -5K initiative? How about a virtual event like the Conqueror Challenge? You can run to whenever you want at your own pace whenever you want!
Team Effort
You may wish to consider doing something as a work based team? If so HPLS can support it with funding towards the costs including travel. More details HERE.
Fitness Tracker
These come in many types and designs and can cost from only £15 for a simple wrist band, up to a huge wad of cash for the latest Apple watch. You may find a cheaper model will do everything you need.
HPLS are trying to find new ways to support our members to get and keep fit and healthy. The benefits to you, your family and also our organisations we work for are pretty obvious! We offer many ways to support the wellbeing strategy, however we would like to focus in on some specific activities where we believe our members can benefit from by getting involved and if kept up, will hopefully start to change our members lifestyle choices. Please see below at what type of activity this is aimed at and what is excluded.
We have set up a fund where we can allocate a small subsidy to certain new activities which members can self arrange and then apply for rebate of up to 50% (Max £30) to help reduce the costs. These activities include signing up to one of the following;
-
Fun run, cross country, obstacle race or cycling event
-
One off aerobic, yoga or pilates course
-
Slimming course (Recognised method online or class attendance)
-
Course in healthy eating such as a college evening class
-
Dance class course of any type
-
Other introductory fitness or well-being courses or activity
-
Conqueror Virtual Challenge HERE
Conditions are unless otherwise stated: 50% of cost - max subsidy of £30 for a new activity for the member. One claim per year per member. Where any activities are already included in a new or existing ongoing gym, sports or health club memberships, these are excluded. Activities that would normally be subsidised by a force sports sections are excluded. This is aimed at starting a new one-off session restricted course or training that has a programme between a start and conclusion date.
This initiative is not for ongoing club or gym memberships. We also do not subsidise general leisure activities under this. They need to have a specific link to wellbeing, be a dedicated race or competitive one off sporting event or be a course of instruction. We do offer rebates for other types of leisure days via our days out pages. If in doubt, please enquire with us first before booking any activity.
Claim must be made using the form HERE and be accompanied by a receipt emailed to hpls@hampshire.pnn.police.uk
